A couple of weeks ago my parents took Scott, Mary Chandler, Kyle and me to a teeny tiny little island called Saba. We took a direct flight from Charlotte to St. Martin and once you make it there you have to take a teeny, teeny tiny airplane over to Saba.
Ever wonder what it might be like to land on the shortest commercial runway in the world? Take a look! I'm guessing it's a lot like landing on an aircraft carrier... ocean and sheer cliff, then super short runway, followed by sheer cliff and ocean again, then mountain. Hope you make it! The high pitched sound you hear at the end of the video is the sound of the pilots stalling the engines of the airplane... um, scary!!
We made it to my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bill's Carolina Cottage safe and sound. Welcome to Paradise!
God really showed off for us while we were there. This was something none of us had ever seen... the end of the rainbow going directly into the ocean!
Flowers in colors you wouldn't believe!
Crazy critters on breathtaking hikes.
Some of the best dishes I've ever put in my mouth, served in creative ways.
We even had the opportunity to take a 2 hour cooking class at a local resort overlooking the ocean. We made crab cakes and then ate them under the stars!
I'd say it was a pretty amazing trip... and that's just part one! Stay tuned for the second half of the week!
